Sandy Haire is Senior Vice President / Chief Nursing Officer at Medical City Plano. Sandy has over 35 years in healthcare holding several positions including Nurse Manager, Director of Critical Care Services and has served as the CNO for 23 years. In her role as CNO she has contributed to the growth of services, and during her tenure at Medical City Plano she has seen the hospital grow from a 200 bed small community hospital to a Level I Trauma Center with 493 beds. Under her leadership the hospital has achieved multiple accreditations including TJC Disease Certification, Chest Pain Level 4 with PCI, American College of Surgeons’ Cancer and Breast Center Accreditation and the prestigious Magnet Designation for nursing. She believes in empowering the frontline staff through a shared governance structure to promote research and disseminate evidenced based patient care.
As a lifelong learner, she received her Diploma Degree in Nursing from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, St Louis, Mo., and her Bachelors in Nursing and Master in Healthcare Administration from Texas Women’s University and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Texas Christian University. She is a certified Nurse Administrator-Advanced and a Fellow of the American Healthcare Executives. Honors include DFW Great 100 Nurse, TONE Excellence in Nurse Leadership Recipient and the Nurse Excellence Finalist. Sandy is past President of North Texas Association of Nurse Executives, and past Board member of Texas Organization of Nurse Executives. She currently serves on the DFW Great 100 Committee, Texas Team, NTONE Board and AONE Research Foundation.
She is also active in the community having served on the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Board, Collin County Nurse Advisory Committee, PISD Career Advisory Committee, EMS Heath Advisory Committee and currently serves on the Plano Chamber of Commerce. She was also a recipient of the Collin County 21 for the 21st Century award.
