What are the Benefits of Cancer Rehabilitation?
Cancer treatment can be accompanied by significant pain, fatigue and disability for survivors. Medical City Plano's cancer rehabilitation program is staffed by a group of trained professionals, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists who can help patients cope with a variety of cancer-treatment related symptoms, such as:
- Musculoskeletal pain
- Joint stiffness
- Limb swelling
- Trouble with balance and walking
- Memory loss
- Trouble talking
- Trouble swallowing
There are several ways to refer patients to the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Medical City Plano.
- The physician’s office can call the rehabilitation enter reception desk with orders for a patient’s treatment, and then either fax, mail or send the prescription with the patient.
- Patients can bring a referral for therapy to the reception desk on their first visit.
