Outpatient Imaging Services Offered at Medical City Plano
Medical City Plano offers outpatient imaging services, including:
CT: Computed tomography (CT) is a diagnostic imaging test used to create detailed images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels. It is a procedure that assists in diagnosing tumors, fractures, bony structures and infections in the organs and tissues of the body. The procedure is also known as computed axial tomography (CAT scan).
MRI: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive medical test that physicians use to diagnose medical conditions. MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone and virtually all other internal body structures. Your doctor can use this test to diagnose you or to see how well you have responded to treatment. Unlike X-rays and CT scans, an MRI does not use radiation.
Ultrasound: In an ultrasound examination, a transducer both sends the sound waves into the body and receives the echoing waves. When the transducer is pressed against the skin, it directs small pulses of inaudible, high-frequency sound waves into the body. Ultrasound can help doctors look inside a patient's body to see everything from heart valves to a moving baby.
Fluoroscopy: Fluoroscopy is a type of medical imaging that shows a continuous X-ray image on a monitor, much like an X-ray movie. The image is transmitted to a monitor so the movement of a body part or of an instrument or contrast agent (X-ray dye) through the body can be seen in detail.
Diagnostic X-ray: Diagnostic X-ray, or radiography, is a special method for taking pictures of areas inside the body. A machine focuses a small amount of radiation on the area of the body to be examined. The X-rays pass through the body, creating an image on film or a computer display.
